More and more people are taking decorating styles and criss crossing them in houses of a traditional nature. Houses that have very defined architectural features, such as Queen Anne Victorian, or Farmhouse are now being filled with furnishings that no longer match the period or style of the building itself. So, where one might expect settees, they find corner sofas or other more contemporary pieces.
Not only are folks doing it, but they are doing it with great levels of success. The unexpected works surprisingly well, and the juxtaposition is well received in most settings. This is good news as these types of sofas are often much more comfortable, and accommodating for families, or even entertaining. This arrangement allows an enviable media system, or a brilliant fireplace to be the main feature of the area.
In addition, since the television has become such an integral part of the living room having one seating unit can work better than two. Being able to arrange this one item so that the focal point is the TV, instead of two works perfectly for most family homes. Viewing is not awkward, and no one is left with the bad seat, as there isn’t one.
